Dear Members
Newsletter for March 2024.
In my last newsletter I started off by saying that the rain must stop sometime! Someone is obviously not listening to me!
Nevertheless we have some events to look forward to:
Day Visit on Thursday 6th June , by coach, to Dorney Court, a Tudor Manor House near Windsor.
The day includes coffee, lunch and guided tour for £48.To register your interest, please contact Rose on rosetainsh@yahoo.co.uk or mobile 07896648965
The Arts Society Hampshire and Isle of Wight Area have organised Special Interest Days on zoom and live from St Peter’s Hall, Jewry Street, Winchester.
Thursday 18th April-”Flowers in the Art of the Great Masters” by Hilary Guise
Book through www.theartssocietyhantsiowarea.org.uk
Its worth browsing through the area website as full of interesting suggestions.
Monday 8th April-Please remember that we have our AGM before the lecture. We will be starting at 10.30 and I will endeavour to keep it as short as possible.
The April Lecture is “Cinema from the Rubble: The Post-War Politics of Ealing Studios.” presented by Benedict Morrison.
The title says it all.
After the lecture, Janet Handley, our residential visits organiser, would like a short meeting with those going to Sicily. Janet-I hope that the rain stopped before you return from warmer climate.
Head Office is urging societies to use social media to promote themselves. As a society, we are very lucky to have a healthy membership, so our needs are not so urgent. However, the trend is to use Facebook and training is being given for this at the moment. If anyone is interested please let me know.
Have a Good Easter
All the best from the committee

The Palmer family has lived at Dorney for over 400 years, in continuous succession from father to son over fourteen generations. The house is Grade 1 listed and is designated as being of outstanding architectural and historical interest. It is set amidst acres of mature parkland. https://dorneycourt.co.uk/house/
CROCUS CAFE
Coffee on arrival, as well as lunch, will be served at the Crocus Nursery Café next to Dorney Court. Lunch options will be confirmed later but are likely to be a choice of soup and a roll, vegetarian quiche or sandwiches, all served with tea or coffee.
