Polesden Lacey, located on the North Downs near Dorking, has been the site of a succession of houses dating back to Saxon times. The present house was a new build in 1824, but was remodelled and expanded in 1906 by Margaret Greville. Her collection of fine paintings, furniture, porcelain and silver is displayed in the reception rooms and galleries, as it was at the time of her celebrated house parties.

The grounds of the house cover 1,400 acres and include a walled rose garden, lawns, ancient woodland and landscape walks. Polesden Lacey is owned and run by the National trust and is one of the Trust’s most popular properties.
