A Visit to Osborne House

In June a small but stalwart group from our Society made an early start to catch the ferry from Southampton to the Isle of Wight. The weather forecast was not good but we dressed appropriately and set sail. After a very welcome cup of coffee on board we reboarded our mini bus and arrived at Osborne House in time to meet our guide, Tim. By this time the rain had begun so we were pleased that the route from the bus to the house was not too long. Unfortunately there were two factors we had not really considered –  the weather – as Tim told us on wet days the number of visitors almost doubles! Also Osborne House is a favourite visiting place as an end of year treat for schools. Tim however was great and guided us through the crowds – finding back corridors and routes whenever possible, yet still ensuring that we saw everything. Not only did we see all the important areas but his explanations were excellent – plenty of information but not too much.
